Since I've been on Aminus3, I've seen so many ways that people post-process their pics and I find that when I ask, people are very generous with sharing their expertise with me.
Thanks to everyone who has enlightened my knowledge about photography and photo editing!
Here's a special shout out to Anna Marie over at http://womanwithacamera.aminus3.com/ for instructing me on how to achieve this effect! Thank you!

@Michael Keith: Thanks Michael! Yeah, I've seen this effect done Anna Marie's site and other places on Am3 and it just makes that color "pop"! Now, I wish I had taken more nature pics. I have to wait until Spring to take more. Thanks for comment and for the visit! =-)
great job Laurie! I like it. You can do amazing things with Picasa if you just fool around with it. :) Thank you for the nice comment!

@Anna Marie: Thanks Anna Maria! I agree, I'm still exploring my photoediting program, it's cool to discover the new things I can do! Again, thanks for showing me the way! =-)
Nicely done..So how do you do this anyway? I'm still frustrated trying to learn this editing stuff..more often than not I stay out of the program.. Need a sit down next to me teacher, know what I mean..

@Frances: Hey Frances...sorry it took me so long to get back with you. Here's how I did this. First of all, I used Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.
I chose the Marquee Tool and put a border around the subject that I wanted to keep "bright". I right-clicked the mouse and chose "Select Inverse". Then I went to "Enhance" on the tool bar, scrolled down to "Levels"
A small window popped up with a graph-Most of what I did next was to this graph. On my software, the graph had three triangles at the bottom. I moved the darkest triangle to the right and that caused everything outside my selected border to darken. So now the only that should be bright is the subject you selelcted before.
Now, if you want to darken areas closer to the subject, take the marquee tool and select an area to darken, only this time go straight to "Enhance" and select "Levels" and follow the process again...there's no need to "select the inverse" for this kind of touching up.
Well I hope that helps you. Have fun! =-)
This one is one of my favorites. Good job.
