Over year ago, I finished writing my first novel called Anomaly. I'll attempt a synopsis here.
It's a young adult novel about Aidan, a 14 year-old boy who like most teenagers is just trying to fit in. Only problem is, Aidan is a gifted psychic who can do almost anything he wants.
That's something that can cause a lot of trouble when you're trying to make friends or trying stay out of the paths of bullies or trying to keep under the radar of nosy grownups. Being a psychic also raises questions for Aidan, like why is he like this and why weren't his parents gifted like he is?
The answers Aidan finds only lead him to a hidden sect of strong psychics and people who want to harm them. If you're still reading this, here's an excerpt from the book that explains today's pic.
“There is one more thing I want to show you,” Julian said. “What’s that?” “This.” He reached out with his hand and I took it. “Don’t scream.” The brick wall behind Julian began to stretch and bulge around his form in a sort of ripple. He appeared to be sinking into the wall. My eyes widened. What the…? I tried to pull away from him so the same thing wouldn’t happen to me, but he gripped my hand tighter. White light appeared around his shoulders. “Don’t panic,” he said as the brick wall seemed to turn into some kind of membrane and it swallowed him and my hand. No! I began to really struggle then. I planted my feet firmly on the ground and pulled away from the wall, but wherever Julian went he was determined to take me with him. White light poured around my wrist where the rest of my hand should have been and a tingling sensation began working up my arm. My head swiveled to the busy sidewalk. With all the activity in the alley where Julian and were, no one out on the busy sidewalk looked over to see me struggling with a brick wall. My mouth opened ready to scream when I was pulled off my feet and into the wall. My face felt like it hit a cushion of static electricity and suddenly I saw Julian standing in the same place he was before that membrane swallowed him. I sensed a flash of light out of the corner of my eye. “It’s okay,” Julian said. His voice echoed as if we stood in a cathedral instead of an alley. My ears felt like they were full of cotton. I just stared at him, afraid to even move, and he just smiled at me like he did when he threw me off the deck back at his penthouse. Around us, people and things looked less colorful as if everything was covered in a dense gray fog. Julian went to the end of the alley then entered the stream of people on the sidewalk and a man walked right through him! “Come on, Aidan,” he called to me. I moved to the edge of the alley. “What happened? Where are we?” I asked, my voice shaking. “We are on another plane.” Another plane? I looked around myself. “And they can’t see us?” He shook his head. “Or hear us. Think of it like slipping between the cracks of that world and this one.” He walked out to the curb. I stuck my foot out and a man who laughed heartily with the other guys he was with walked through it. Their voices sounded muffled, almost as if a pane of glass separated us. “Don’t be afraid of them. They don’t even know you are there.” I swallowed and stepped out of the alley. I almost made it across the sidewalk when a woman stepped through me. It felt like the atmosphere thickened and cooled for a moment like when I’m in a warm lake and swim through a cold spot. The atmosphere lightened up again and I sensed that this woman did not care too much for her male companion. In fact, she wished he’d take her home. I moved away from her and joined Julian at the curb. “My abilities still work on this plane?” “Yes. You can do just about anything here. Move through any surface. There are no boundaries here. There’s much for you to learn about this side and yourself.” Something about the look on my face made him smile and he said, “You’ll get used to it.” I shook my head at him. I’d fallen nineteen stories, I just crossed town by jumping on rooftops, and now I was on another plane where I could do almost anything. “You can do anything, Aidan,” Julian said and he started walking down the street. All of a sudden, I saw in him the teacher I’d always wanted. Someone who knew me, who knew I was something beyond this freak I thought I was.

I recognized this picture from a previous post. The processing on this fits the story extremely well. I enjoyed the synopsis, your writing is wonderful and captivating. I will definitely take a look at your first seven chapters. Great work and well done.
What an anomaly doing a book critic on a photo blog :)
